Christina Barnett, DVM, Hospital Owner


Dr. Christina Barnett is a founding member and owner of REVH. She is originally from Joliet, Illinois. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Purdue University in 1991, and her Veterinary degree from Texas A&M University in 2001. Dr. Barnett completed a small animal veterinary internship at Ontario Veterinary College in 2002, before moving to New England.

Dr. Barnett worked as both a general practitioner and an emergency veterinarian for the Intown Veterinary Group in Massachusetts from 2002 until 2005. She moved to New Hampshire in 2005, and joined the Animal Medical Center in Nashua, where she worked as a full-time emergency veterinarian and held the position of Medical Director until 2007. From 2007 until she opened REVH in 2009, Dr. Barnett worked as a relief veterinarian at many of the general practice and emergency animal hospitals in the southern New Hampshire area. Her experience and observation of so many different practices allowed her to draw from many resources when designing and planning REVH.

Dr. Barnett is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association (NHVMA), and Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS). In her spare time, she enjoys home improvement projects, landscaping, gardening, dancing, and spending time with her husband and numerous pets—three dogs, eight cats, and finches. Dr. Barnett also enjoys studying martial arts and holds a black prajiad in Muay Thai kickboxing and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.


Luke Zagar, DVM, Medical Director

Dr. Zagar earned his Doctorate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. He worked in general practice for a little less than a year before quickly transitioning into ER. He recently joined REVH as the Medical Director in January, 2024. Emergency medicine creates a situation that can be stressful and sometimes described as the worse day for owners and their pets. Dr. Zagar strives to partner with families to find the best outcome for their pet and for them as a family. He has always sought out to be a helpful individual in times of need, in his career and his hobbies.
In addition to providing care for his patients and their families, Dr. Zagar is also a call firefighter. He has been involved in the fire service as a volunteer/call firefighter here in New Hampshire since he was young and enjoys serving others. Dr. Zagar has volunteered in animal shelters since he was 18 and throughout school. He continues to spend time at a local animal shelter on his days off, to give back to the state and community he was raised in.
Dr. Zagar is also an active member of the New Hampshire Veterinary Medicine Association (NHVMA) and fulfilled the role of President of the association from 2022 to 2024. He spends his time off with his wife, daughter and their furry creatures, usually outside in the Whites or around their farm.

Jay Volinski, DVM, Senior Associate/ Program Development Coordinator


Dr. Jay Volinski joined REVH in 2012 after working at different ER in NH for the previous 3.5 years. He graduated from Bowdoin College with majors in Biochemistry and Neuroscience in 2000 and worked in a Harvard biochemical research lab at Children’s Hospital in Boston until 2003. He has always enjoyed science, but he became discouraged by its slow pace, so he decided to switch professions and pursue his veterinary degree to help animals and people on a more day-to-day basis. He graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 and completed a 1-year rotating internship at Michigan State University College of Veterinary medicine in 2008.

Dr. Volinski is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS). He enjoys the variety of different cases that he gets to see in emergency medicine. He sees mostly dogs and cats but also enjoys seeing “exotic” species. He lives with his wife, Catherine, his young son, Micah, two cats (Frosty and Toothless), and 3 guinea pigs (Cannoli, Gumdrop, and Morsel). In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, outdoor activities such as hiking, downhill skiing, nature photography, amateur astronomy, and searching beaches and tidepools for shells and small creatures. He is also an avid Red Sox fan. He cannot wait to start introducing Micah to all of these things as he grows older!


Sara LePine, BVM&S


Dr. Sara LePine started working with animals as a teenager in a stable in exchange for riding lessons. She then volunteered with a small animal practice that provided pediatric spay and neuter services as well as general care to her local ASPCA. From that moment she was hooked and started to pursue a veterinary career. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences from Cornell University where she also worked as a student at McConville Barn and Kleberg Barn caring for the horses, mules and hinnies used in genetics and immunology research. After finishing her degree at Cornell she worked for the USDA Farm Service Agency programs for family farms. She then travelled to Scotland to attend Vet School at the University of Edinburgh, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. She graduated in 2008 and moved to New Hampshire to start her career in Mixed Animal Practice. She then moved to Small Animal General Practice. She worked in General Practice, including Urgent Care for 12 years. She first started Relief shifts for a Veterinary ER in 2016 and has spent the past 5 years primarily in Urgent Care and Canine Reproduction. As time has gone on, she found that she enjoys the particular challenges and variety of Emergency Medicine and chose to go ER full time. She loves the balance of Soft Tissue Surgery, Internal Medicine diagnostics and Critical Care. She lives with her Life Partner, Derrick, their two dogs Drax and Rocket and three cats, Vladamira, Val, and Marvel Moet. In her free time she enjoys travel, dining out, the performing arts and practicing Aerial Silks.


Brittany Colbath, DVM


Dr. Brittany Colbath is originally from central NH. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Vermont in 2014. She completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 2018.

She started working at a mixed animal practice in northern Maine, before moving closer to home to pursue her passion of emergency medicine in 2019. In addition to her full time ER job, she worked at various ERs around the state as a relief veterinarian. She joined REVH full time in January 2022.

She lives with her husband Lee and their team of competitive sprint racing sled dogs. In her time off, she can be found out on the trails training or racing her dogs.


Lauren Steigerwalt, DVM


Dr. Lauren Steigerwalt grew up in various towns around Massachusetts, and then completed her undergraduate degree at University of Pittsburgh. She returned to Massachusetts for veterinary school and earned her DVM from Tufts University in 2018.

While Dr. Steigerwalt loves dogs and cats, exotics are her favorite. She has completed additional training in exotic animal medicine, as well as wildlife and zoo medicine. She has been involved with local small mammal rescues and especially loves rats!

In addition to her clinical work in New England, Dr. Steigerwalt enjoys going on trips to provide access to veterinary care to large and small animals in under-served areas. In her spare time, Dr. Steigerwalt loves hiking, camping, horseback riding, scuba diving, and cooking. She also enjoys hosting board game nights as well as spending time with her family, cat, and rats.


Allison Pike, DVM


Dr. Allison Pike is from the seacoast of New Hampshire. She received her Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from the University of New Hampshire, then earned her DVM from Michigan State University in 2019.

After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Pike spent a few years in mixed animal practice in California. She has recently returned to her home state of New Hampshire and made the transition to working in small animal emergency medicine full time.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her two pugs (Wee and Cece) and two cats (Fe and Frankie).
